When flipping through the pages of The Fir-Tree, from the first edition in 1911 to the 2026 volume, the story of Woodberry unfolds, one generation at a time.

Much has changed over the years. New buildings have risen, hairstyles and fashions have come and gone, and each class has left its own unique mark on the school. Yet page after page, familiar scenes emerge. Boys gather for club photographs. Faculty engage students in lively classroom discussions. Athletic teams celebrate seasons of hard work, wins, and losses. Commencement marks the transition from students to alumni. While every edition reflects its own moment in time, each captures the enduring traditions, values, and experiences that have defined Woodberry since 1889.

Like the pages of The Fir-Tree, Woodberry’s endowment tells a story of a culture of philanthropy that spans generations.
