Fiftieth reunion celebrations at Woodberry are both deeply meaningful and a whole lot of fun. This past April, the class of 1976 marked this milestone during an unforgettable weekend with forty-five classmates and their guests back on campus to partake in the festivities.
Throughout the lead-up to the reunion, the theme of reconnection was ever-present. For several returning ’76 alumni, this marked their very first time back on campus since graduating fifty years ago. Inspired by this spirit of camaraderie and outreach, the reunion committee sought a meaningful way to honor their collective legacy and decided to establish the Class of 1976 Scholarship Fund in memory of their deceased classmates.
“As a new boy, I never imagined that the challenges and discoveries that would mark my years at Woodberry would play such a positive role in quietly shaping my path for the next fifty years,” reflected reunion committee co-chair Bill McMaster. “It seems only fitting to share some of the resulting good fortune with that institution, trusting that it will continue to shape the lives of other young men in an equally positive way.”
Co-chair J Moon added, “I remain immensely grateful for what I was given during my time at Woodberry and am honored to pass the same gift on to others, especially in the name of our friends who are no longer with us.”
The Class of 1976 Scholarship Fund will provide deserving young men with the life-changing opportunity to become a Tiger. Woodberry is profoundly grateful for the extraordinary generosity of the class of 1976 in supporting this vital need for the school.
